Worker killed in rail incident

It is the initial mining fatality in WA since October 2022, when the market recorded two fatalities – a utility worker at Karlawinda Gold Mine who was killed when his motor vehicle was crushed by a dump truck, and a miner who was killed in a rockfall at St Ives underground gold mine around Kambalda.

WorkSafe commissioner Darren Kavanagh made available his condolences to the worker’s spouse and children and workmates, and reported any work-connected demise was a tragedy.

The organisation is investigating the incident, which is also beneath investigation by the Office of the National Rail Security Regulator.

A lot more to come.
